Introduction | I am a landscape artist working mostly in pastels and acrylics. My work representational of the northwest US, generally. I also am an avid stamp artist and create a variety of cards, wrapping paper, gift tags and wall hangings with stamps and paper. I am currently represented by several galleries in WA, OR, ID and MT. My landscapes are all about the color and the feel of the land. My goal is to persuade the viewer to "step into" the painting and wander around and take in the temperature, the smells, the color that is expressed there. If the viewer can do that; then I have been successful in my work. I grew up in Central Montana, went to college in Chicago and then began migrating back west. I spent time in MT and currently live in southeastern WA. When I was a kid, the open space of rural Montana was my playground. I was out there on my horse nearly every day taking in the colors and shapes of everything from rocks to clouds. I started painting as a kid; as I could get my hands on my mother's art supplies. I used up her drawing pencils and paper and then got into her oils. She was a willing accomplice and encouraged my work. |
