About Me

I'm a mother and journalist who is curious about how new media and technology affect the developing mind. I've recently written a book Into the Minds of Babes, which looks at how very young children respond to (and whether they can make sense of) what they see on video or computers. The research for that book -- and my work as a reporter before that -- has led me to wade deeper into the fields of cognitive science, neuroscience, developmental psychology, education, communication and computer science. I can’t hope to keep up with every new discovery that comes out of these fields, but when I see something that catches my eye, I’ll do my best to post it.
