Introduction The Consumer Anthropologist uses humor and storytelling to create quick performances around cultural insights on everyday life. My hope is that my sometimes off-center (but always passionate!) posts give you something to think about, generate a conversation, or just make you laugh. I am Principal Anthropologist & Managing Director for Context-Based Research Group, which I co-founded in 1999. So part of the reason for starting The Consumer Anthropologist was to keep cultural anthropology at the heart of doing ethnography for business. My PhD is in cultural anthropology and my wife and I did our dissertation research among a group of hunter-gather-gardeners in Papua New Guinea. We live in Baltimore with our two children and I teach classes in anthropology at Goucher College. I also play the ukulele – sometimes while driving (well, at stoplights – mostly) and often while walking to the office.
Interests family, ukulele, surfing, anthropology, art, teaching
