About Me

I’m an accomplished pen & ink artist with an emphasis in nautical themes, (tall ships, wooden yachts, lighthouses and marine wildlife,) and have several accolades to my credit. After serving 20 years in the Navy as an illustrator, I retired and moved with my beautiful wife Amy and vivacious son Keegan to Yuma, AZ. In addition to my repertoire I have also added studies of desert landscapes, hot air balloons and desert quail. In this I have also begun experimenting with other media: oil pastels and watercolor pencils. My military awards include: Best in Show, June 2005, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76); 1st Place Pen & Ink, December 2005, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76); 1st Place and 2nd Place Pen & Ink, July 2006, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76); Best in Show, 1st Place Pen & Ink and 2nd Place Mixed Media, April 2007, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). My civilian awards include: Champion Rosette, Outstanding Ribbon and 1st Place in Drawing in Crafts and Hobbies; 1st Place in Pen & Ink in Seascapes and Animals in Fine Arts, April 2008, Yuma County Fair, Yuma, AZ. I am currently showing at the Yuma Art Center Central Gallery with North End Artists’ Co-op through November 8.
