| Introduction | I am a woman obsessed with freedom of body, mind & spirit. & thus also of conscience, speech & assembly & the separation of Church & State. Having spent my first 35 years in Fundamentalist Christianity and the next 13 on a spiritual quest that includes the exhilarating though often terrifying adventure of learning to think for myself, gives me a unique lens through which to view current events. I have an allergy to all ideology. I vowed Never again! when I made the break from the spiritual, mental & emotional prison of Fundamentalism in 1992. But it is a natural tendency of the mind to be devoted to an Idea that frames the world and gives it context & meaning. It is nigh impossible to refuse to submit to all Ideology without succumbing to either cynicism or neurosis. I choose neurosis over cynicism as I venture on the path towards spiritual enlightenment. |
