| Introduction | I teach kids, parents and teachers how to create handmade books, for the sheer joy of it and as an "alternative" path to literacy and artistic expression. I manage the Youth Programs for the San Francisco Center for the Book (www.sfcb.org) and also serve as one of its artist/instructors in the classroom, at professional-development sessions, on field trips and at community events. I recently started a bookmaking blog for teachers; you'll find it at www.sfcb.org/teacher-features. I spend my time away from the Book Center making boxes and protective enclosures for antiquarian books and ephemera. |
