Introduction I didn't always want to be a writer. I spent ten whole years not even thinking about being a writer. Then, one warm summer night, I was outside chasing lightning bugs with some friends and somehow ended up telling them a story. A campfire story, with a monster and everything--and they ate it up. Who can resist the warm fuzzy feeling that comes from making something up and scaring the bejeepers out of your friends? From that moment on, I was hooked. I wanted to tell more stories, and the natural outshoot of that was to write them down. Then it took me another forty years to actually sit down and write something publishable. By then, I was also editing, and a few years after that I suddenly found myself to be a publisher. Talk about total immersion learning. So now, instead of having family and a job to keep me from writing 20 hours a day I have other people's books to get ready for publication. I still manage to do some writing; I think I'd suffer some kind of malnutrition if I didn't. It just takes me longer to get something done.
