Occupation Retired Television News Reporter
Location Pittsburgh, PA, United States
Introduction I was born and raised in Port Jervis, New York, about 90 miles north of New York City. At a young age I enjoyed telling stories and observing people and things, so, I felt drawn to reporting. A short stint as a Page on the “Tonight Show” led to my career in broadcast journalism, which began at the NBC Television station in Norfolk, Virginia. Subsequent to that, I worked briefly at the White House in 1975 for Television News Inc., and then again from 1982 to 1984 during the Reagan Administration for Satellite News Channel. When that folded, I was hired by the NBC affiliate in Pittsburgh, where I worked for over 24 years. During that time, I worked mainly on thought and issue pieces, local and national politics and did extensive investigative reporting. I won four 1st place awards for my investigative pieces from the Pennsylvania Associated Press. I also played a major role in our coverage of such stories as the Johnstown flood, the crash of US Air flight 427, the crash of United flight 93 in Somerset, Pennsylvania, on September 11, 2001, and the hurricane Ivan floods. I have had the great privilege of covering just about every kind of story a reporter could hope to confront.
