Introduction | Technology by itself is interesting. But what makes it fascinating is watching and trying to understand the larger kaleidoscope of patterns as technologies rise, fall, interact with each other, and shape and are shaped by the humans who use them. I love watching what emerges, and trying to recognize the invisible currents of technology patterns that lie just below the surface. |
Interests | When I'm not working at my day job or my blog, I practice and teach the martial arts. The two are not unrelated - both the words "technology" and "technique" stem from the Greek word "tekhno", meaning art, skill, craft, method, or system. In both cases, we use skill to achieve a better outcome than could be achieved without it. |
Favorite Books | The Fifth Discipline is the book that helped me recognize how you can get complex behavior from very simple stimuli in real world circumstances. I could probably chop out 75% of this book and still take away the essence, but that 25% is pure gold. |
