About me

Introduction I was diagnosed with ASD as an adult, and have a keen interest in learning, growing and improving the quality of my life! Dr. Gutstein confirmed my diagnosis of autism (he was opinion #4 for me! Three, including Dr. G said I was ASD, and one said I wasn't). Anyway, in 2003 Dr G wrote down on a piece of paper for me: "Bev is autistic." That is when I was still trying to come to terms with this new information about myself. In 2005, Dr Gutstein said this to me about my progress: "I'm sure you would "fail" the ADOS and come out in the normal range. I'm positive. Your thinking is too flexible. You're too in touch with your emotions, you adapt too quickly, you initiate too much joint attention, you socially reference. You look at things from alternative points of view. You are too interested in how others think and feel. It is becoming clear that you are failing as an autistic person."
