| Introduction | I have degrees in both fashion design & engineering. I enjoy sewing, crafts, decorating, building & renovating. My love of crafts started early when my grandma taught me to hand-sew doll clothes. She also encouraged the arts, buying me lots of books on artists, sewing & crafts. My grandpa was a painter & amateur woodworker. My mom taught me to use a sewing machine by age 8. And she & dad encouraged me with many art classes & visits to museums. My dad could draw very well, but pursued his love of animals, science & nature, thus my dedication to environmental & conservation issues. I've always been interested in how things are constructed & ended up working as a drafter and CAD operator in the Civil Engineering field. Mostly I love working with existing materials, recycling, upcycling, repurposing & finding inexpensive ways to make beautiful items. I hope you enjoy reading about my designs, crafts & methods. |
