Occupation Missionaries
Location Lopburi, Thailand
Introduction We arrived in Thailand in 1997 to work as missionaries with OMF International. Since July 2008, we have lived in Chiang Mai where we serve as house parents for OMF kids who attend international schools. Matthew, our eldest son (6/22/91), is attending Teen Mania's Honor Academy in the US. Joshua (7/1/93), Nathan (7/17/96) and Alysha (8/27/98) attend Grace International School here in Chiang Mai. In Thailand, there are many Buddhist temples and monks. Most houses and businesses have spirit houses. The Thai are friendly, but resistant to becoming Christian. Their religion is tied closely to their culture. It is our desire to be salt and light in Thai society, sharing Christ and encouraging the church. For 8 years, we lived in Lopburi, 2 hours north of Bangkok. In that area, there is 1 Christian for every 1428 non-Christians. Our ministry involved helping plant God’s Glory Church which began in January, 1998. Our role was to mentor Thai Christians, as well as evangelize and disciple. Currently about 25 Thai people attend God's Glory Church each Sunday. A majority of these Thai are in their early to mid 20's. A few adults ranging in age from 30's to 50's also attend.
Interests Please pray 1. For our children to feel at home in Thailand and that they would be fluent in Thai. 2. For many more Thai people to come to know Jesus as Lord and for the power of Buddhism and Animism in Thailand to be broken. 3. That Thai Christians would be mature, godly leaders in their churches. 4. That our car, household appliances and other things would work well and that our health would be good. Satan often attacks in these areas. 5. For Scott and Jennifer to continue to grow in our Thai language ability so that we can clearly communicate the gospel.
