Introduction Zarachnia: I am a dark deep dry red wine. Don't curse me—I'm already lost. Call me: Nocturnal Triangle, Wind in the Trees, and Five Hallelujahs as I saunter like a tarantula, slow but steady along rows of tidy bookspines dustless on a maple shelf. I am a pomegranate playing violin—when I'm not ranging up the mountain or fording rustproof streams of silver light. Love! I say. Mediocre irrelevance is a tomb to sing alive. I tread hedges, hum, invent ultraviolet arias, and burn muses like bittersweet incense—on special occasions. My underwater voices redwood me south. I drink Highway One into Mendocino. Cliffs there leap wild into the surging Pacific. Secret shady wine: I am rain-wet stone dreaming beyond all edges.

Never mind the turtle. Don't you think you're sure to win?

Pennywise certainly thought so...
