No I thought about the symbolism of smashing a rose with a hammer, and looked at the teacher in a new light, I noticed his unironed shirt, the weariness in his eyes, and wondered if perhaps the rumours were true and his wife had indeed left him for a juggling midget she met when the circus was in town.
