About Me
I'm a thirty-something cooped up lesbian stay-at-home mom, always striving wife, and anthropology student who has an innate need to see the world, dive with sharks, listen to mariachi music, eat Mexican food every single day, and shoot photos. A few years ago, I met an artist named Vada. I was officially pronounced always hers to this incredible woman at the Menil, my children became our children, and through her uterus we added another one to call our own. I no longer see the world or dive with sharks or even read, but I do get to listen to mariachi music and share a home with a dog of which I am highly allergic. All day long. And I love it, but reconciling my amazing family life with my utmost loathe for conventionalism and caging my need to have my passport stamped has left me a little mad at times, as in banging my head against the wall while telling the baby, "no bark." Since our marriage is not legally recognized and my wife's employer does not offer same sex benefits, this is my therapy. (photo by an amazing photographer and great friend, Kristine Lewis)
