| Introduction | In the summer of 1984 I started going to discos and nightclubs, but not much liking disco music, I knew nothing......... A couple of weeks later, the beat go to me and a voyage of discovery into the strobe lights and my liberation to disco began. Very soon I wanted to be able to mix the beats and songs like the DJ, so I haunted the independent record shops importing the latest 12” vinyl, discovering Bobby Orlando, Patrick Cowley, Lime, Tapps, Ian Anthony Stephens, Fancy/Tess, Mike Mareen, Mauro Farina & Giuliano Crivellente, Vincent Degiorgio, Mikki Chieregatto, Michiel Van Der Kuy and Fonny De Wolf were some of the names behind the music. Using my record collection and the tracks I danced to in the 80’s, here is a brief guide to the best of 80’s disco. Two decades later I am still finding great songs from the era. |
