Introduction | I was in elementary school teacher for 33 years working with children from kindergarten to grade eight. Ten of those years I was a teacher-librarian. I volunteered in numerous ways including writing and directing Drama Club plays and working with Young Authors (who won various contests including the prestigious Scholastic-create-a-book Award for A Job for Jesse). I am a mother and grandmother. Much of my outside of teaching volunteer work has involved children: Playschool Coordinator, mentor to a teenage mother, La Leche League librarian, Girl Guide Leader, Readers are Leaders Volunteer, etc. I am a professional member of CANSCAIP, The Canadian Children's Book Center, and YALitChat. Most agents and publishers are unwilling to take on a client my age. Little do they know how many ideas I have and how hard I work. I have been traditionally published in a wide variety of formats and have recently expanded into self-publishing. I have done readings and workshops for children and for adults interested in writing for children throughout the region. If you find this site interesting, I hope you will suggest it to your friends. |
