About me

Introduction I created this blog originally to present my analysis of the Hasawiya massacre in Syria - one of the most brutal incidents in the Syrian conflict, and an example of how the Asad regime's disinformation machine operates. You can find it here: http://magpie68.blogspot.co.uk/2013_02_01_archive.html I am a supporter of the struggles for democracy in the Arab world launched by the Arab spring. I followed the unfolding of the Libyan revolution closely, and am now attempting to do the same for Syria. I am a retired political scientist, with experience of conflict situations and democratic transitions. I am a long standing "person of the left" and am not going anywhere else in this lifetime. I'm hoping to develop this blog to provide a useful resource for both understanding the Syrian revolution and promoting international solidarity with it.
