Introduction Sixty-nine year-old, divorced father of two adults; longtime magazine editor for an international trade publishing firm; hopeless romantic (cries at sappy movies, weddings and those You Tube videos from You've Got Talent! and the like) masquerading as a detached realist; INFP (for those who speak Myers-Briggs); recovering clean freak. Struggling Christian (always, but willing to admit it these days). Daring to date a lovely, charming, funny, engaging, mother of four with a Ph.D in philosophy. Second family anyone? Bring it on!!
Interests Hiking (but not camping), cross-country skiing, weight training, picking ear wax (no kidding! but only my own), Bethany Evangelical Free Church.
Favorite Movies Casablanca, Under the Same Moon, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Hitch, the Matrix series, Jim Carrey's "serious" flix (e.g., Grinch, Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty, The Majestic), The Bells of St. Mary's, Spanglish, Jersey Girl, Pride & Prejudice (Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth), Good Will Hunting, Anne of Green Gables series (PBS), It's a Wonderful Life, The Jason Bourne series (1-3, not so much #4), Lord of the Rings series, For Love of the Game, many more too numerous to mention.
Favorite Music Modern worship (plugged and unplugged guitars/drums/etc.), select Christian pop and a wide variety of select but not necessarily religiously inspired fare, including classical (as in orchestral), jazz, blues, metal, hip-hop, twang-less country, bluegrass, rock and metal as well as techno, emo and even a (very) little screamo and rap.
Favorite Books Highlights include the Bible, parts of the Book of Common Prayer, the Winnie-the-Pooh books (A.A. Milne), the Calvin and Hobbes collections, God's Empowering Presence by Gordon Fee, the Church of England series by Susan Howatch, Will in the World (a bio of Wm. Shakespeare), anything by James Thurber and John Grisham, the hilarious chronicles of bounty hunter Stephanie Plum (One for the Money, etc.), the complete Chronicles of Narnia, the Harry Potter series, and (loved this) The Hunger Games.
