| Introduction | This is me, shoveling my way through autism (and life in general). I'm a (very) worn out mother of a six-year-old with autism and a rebel daughter who is too big for her britches. Teetering on the edge of a mid-life crisis, I spend my days implementing biomedical intervention for my son, Hayden, and taking care of our family. I have two highly disturbed mutts that also keep me busy. I'm writing a book about my journey called Wading Through Autism. Writing seems to be good therapy for me and is much cheaper than a shrink's office. To sum up my life in a few sentences: I graduated from high school in 1995. I went to two colleges and, consequently, got three degrees as I wasted my parent's money. Ultimately, I'd only use my bachelor's and master's degree for seven worthless years in a classroom full of ungrateful students (OK, not all of them). I got married in 2003, had my son is 2004, shot him up with various vaccines which caused autism. I've spent years of my life literally "Wading Through Autism". So far, I'm still in one piece, but there's always tomorrow... |
