About Me

Presently juggling hats: English/Math Tutor, Non-Profit Founder, and Internet Business Consultant by day, champion of social justice by night. • Founder of a few businesses over my years, now working to get 2 non-profits off the ground (as of November 2008). • Born in the Bronx in 1964. Lived in New York City until college at Carnegie-Mellon University, 1982-1986. In 1989 I moved to the SF Bay Area. Worked for ComputerWare at first, 1989-1991. Went to Apple as a contractor for 1 year, then 1992-2001 I worked at Cisco Systems. Founded and ran Green Knight Publishing until it closed down c. 2005. • Started a new project, Razumijen, in 2006. Noodled around with that and the Somalia War 2006-2007. But then got distracted by Civilization IV and World of Warcraft to understand why, if there is so much war in the real world, why we even simulate it for 'fun' when people are really dying. • Hence now, I am founding the Global Understanding Institute (GUI) for crisis and conflict monitoring, analysis and resolution, and Flowers in the Cracks Artists Alliance. At least, that's my current game plan. Stay tuned!

When you open your eyes underwater, do you ever worry that you'll drown?

No. I grew up by the Atlantic Ocean. Kept my eyes shut to keep out and sand/irritants. The water pressure of a wave crashing down on our kid-heads made us squinch our eyes shut. "Whee! That was fun!" Then we'd wipe the water off our faces and get ready for the new wave. We'd also open our eyes to swim around underwater to find shells on the sea floor.
