Introduction I began to realize my interest in cooking my sophomore year of college when I studied abroad in Spain. My host mother, Gloria, was an excellent cook and almost daily after class I would sit in the kitchen and watch her prepare the main meal. I didn’t actually start cooking until several years later when I moved back to Birmingham and had my own kitchen and time to experiment in it. I enjoy almost everything about cooking. I love trying new ingredients, flavor combinations, and recipes. Most of all I love sharing my interest in cooking and my dishes with my wonderful husband, Russ. I am keeping this blog so that we can keep track of all the recipes we try. Lately I have been cooking lots of Giada de Laurentiis and Ina Garten’s recipes. I am also a fan of Cooking Light and Fine Cooking and frequently try recipes out of both. We rate the recipes on a scale of 1 to 10. Complete disasters like the beer cheese soup / burnt popcorn catastrophe (of which our microwave will never be the same), the crepes that never were, and the bloody finger incident are rated 1s, while our successes that are worth repeating like The Big Production are rated 10s. So, the adventure continues...
