PEDIATRICIAN, Board-certified. ASHEBORO, NORTH CAROLINA. Third-person nutshell: Against odds, local girl makes good . . . becomes MD . . . despite bad experience as a child, comes home to work for Randolph Hospital (medical school loans repaid by the Feds for service). In classic, "good-ole-boy" fashion, gets stomped on by the hometown "non-profit" . .. fired after blowing the whistle on bad care in a newborn case. Practice destroyed. Mucho litigation ensued. Hospital sued her for telling the truth about what happened to the state & federal governments she served. Cases settled in 2001 in her favor. Discovered afterwards that hospital officals lied under Oath about the "confidentiality" of their "non-profit" books & salaries (in violation of US & IRS Code and NC General Statute), significantly defrauding her at settlement. Multiple inquiries to local, state and federal law enforcement (re: perjury & contempt) ignored. Neither local/federal DA's nor the NC Attorney General will prosecute. Local press (Courier Tribune and Greensboro N&R) has ignored the case. Totally HOSED but not supposed to be NAIL-SPITTING MAD about any of it.
