About Me

I'm a Unitarian Universalist minister, currently serving as senior minister of the First Unitarian Church of Providence, Rhode Island. I'm also a long time Zen practitioner ordained as a Soto Zen priest and one of the guiding teachers for the Boundless Way Zen project, currently serving as school abbot. I'm married to Jan Seymour-Ford, research librarian at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA. We round out our family with my auntie, Julia Bernard, and two cats. The responsibility for all that is written here, as Jason Goodwin says in the acknowledgments to one of his novels, including "errors, deviations, and flagrant misrepresentations are mine alone." He, of course, has the excuse of being a novelist. The upshot is that opinions expressed here probably do not, and certainly should not be assumed to represent the views of any organization to which I belong.
