About me

Introduction So, here I am. German-Chinese or Chinese-German. I was born in Germany but lived in China for the most of my life with Chinese parents. It wouldn't be so complicated if I didn't go to the German Embassy School of Beijing, which is a school run by Germans for German-speaking expats in Beijing, China, but I did. So I grew up speaking German, Chinese and English (and a tiny bit of French) with all the international citizens in Beijing. Anthropologists like to call my sort of people "Third Culture Kids" (short TCKs). Honestly, I really don't like that term because it suggests that I have fuzed two cultures into one and that I belong into one cultural category. In my opinion it's just saying that belonging to two cultural "categories" (Western and Eastern) is too complicated for the label-lovers. I belong to neither, I am me, fullstop. Anyways, cultural struggles and people failing to understand what I am have driven me towards the arts so right now I am studying visual arts in Baltimore, USA.
