Introduction | I'm a 30 something mom with a disabling case of Schizo-Affective disorder, bipolar type, as well as a handful of other diagnoses. Before I had my first mental health breakdown, I was a teacher. I earned my MA degree in counseling and worked as a school counselor for a year before I became disabled. On March 22, 2010 I had Weight Loss Surgery to help me lose the 130 lbs. I have gained on psychotropic medication. The Lap-Band system failed and was removed on August 8, 2011. It is my hope that through my experiences as both a consumer of mental healthcare and my experiences with my lap-band that my readers will feel educated on both aspects of my medical life and will be inspired to take care of themselves holistically, body, mind and soul. |
Interests | Weight Loss, Mental Illness support |
Favorite Movies | As a child of the 70s, I grew up with John Hughes films. They are still my favorite, with Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of wonderful topping the lists. |
Favorite Music | Lilith fair type artists, hands down. I am so excited for the new tour this summer. I'm also a huge fan of 80s, 90s, and "alternative" music. |
Favorite Books | I read a lot of memoirs, self help books, and Jennifer Weiner novels. I also have a bordering on obsessive relationship with magazines. My favorites are Glamour, Marie Claire, and real Simple. |
Sponges and tongues are frequently misspelled. Is it because both are thirsty?
Yes, yes it is.
