Introduction	I live about a mile from work with my wife and daughter. I teach English and Journalism at Carlmont High School in Belmont, California. During the last few years, I have also been writing a father's advice column for a parenting magazine in the Bay Area. The main theme of the column is that common sense is the best strategy for raising a child. A lot of my work originally appeared in Parenting on the Peninsula, aka PontheP.
