About Me

I'm a novelist, author of CHASING THE DEAD (2006) and EAT THE DARK (2007) from Ballantine/Del Rey. In the fall of 2009 Random House will publish my next novel, tentatively titled THE BLACK WING. I work as an MRI tech in Hershey, PA. I have two young children who persist in asking me to tell them scary stories and usually let me know when I go too far. THE SCARY PARENT is a place for all the scary stories my kids ask to hear, plus whatever else might be interesting on any given day.

If you were a pirate, how would you avoid laughing when saying "poop deck"?

I remember my father, who died tragically when he slipped and fell on a poop deck.
