| Introduction | My name is Lola, Mexican by birth and South African by choice. I have been living in Jozi for almost 7 years, and I must say I adore it here...what’s not to love? The people, the weather, the space, the culture… I could go on, but I've been fortunate enough to have traveled quite a lot, and I know that quality of life here is really good. The only thing that is missing is decent Mexican food! Ever since I arrived people ask me where real Mexican food be found in Johannesburg. My immediate answer is, only in my house! Cheeky I know…. but its true! A lot of places have things they call "Mexican", but let me tell you chili con carne and burritos are absolutely, most definitely, NOT Mexican. There are even a couple of places here that only serve "Mexican" food. Well, at least the tequila is Mexican. That’s why I started this blog; to spread my love of cooking and of food, the culture, the smells and the tastes of Mexico. Some of the ingredients are hard to come by, but we Mexicans always make a plan! Let me share some of my secrets with you... Besos, Lola |
