About Me
I am a Media Specialist at Atlantic Highlands Elementary School in the bayshore region of Monmouth County, NJ. I teach students ages PreK-6th grade in a fixed teaching schedule each week (almost every student comes for a 45 minute Media Center class and book check out each week and I teach 6 periods a day, some as an in class support teacher). I finished my work on my MLIS at Rutgers in December of 2007. I transitioned from a 13 year career as a Flight Attendant for United Airlines to a teacher to a Technology & Media Specialist to my current position. I am a one woman show in my library except for the occasional parent or student volunteers who keep the place running (note, I didn't say running 'smoothly'). A great advantage to the the town where I work- My school is just few blocks down from the marina where many of the residents commute to NYC by high speed ferry (about 45 mins.) I grew up on the border of Mercer and Somerset Counties and volunteered in Mary Jacobs Library as a kid and spent endless hours in the old Princeton Library growing up. I proudly call Red Bank and coastal Monmouth County my home since 2004.
