Introduction	Richard is a first year MA/PhD student in the Department of Communication at UCSB. He is interested in new media, virtual worlds and massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs). Areas of exploration include the way groups such as guilds or ad hoc teams collaborate, develop relationships, encounter and resolve conflict, elect leaders, propagate group culture, build social capital, and how game design fosters or inhibits these activities. Before attending UCSB, Richard held several corporate research positions at companies such as Nissan North America, The Walt Disney Company, Yakult USA, and Lieberman Research Worldwide. Richard received his BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a minor in Economics from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo.
