| Introduction | I love to bake everything. Most of my spare time was/is spent decorating cakes. Until I had that late 20s light-bulb moment that I should just do the one thing I feel confident that I am good at for a living. That is when the journey began with if I should go back to school or not. The other option was to cross my fingers and hope somebody in the pastry/bakery industry would take a leap of faith on a 20-something with no formal training or experience besides in my own kitchen. After 9 months of applying to jobs that I clearly knew I was under-qualified for I landed a job as the Pastry Assistant at Vernick Food & Drink in Rittenhouse (Philadelphia). I have also been fortunate enough to have the most amazing man by my side supporting the career change and lack of funds. It also goes without saying that the positive advice and motivation from my family and friends has made this truly the most exciting and positive experience. |
