Steve and Marcia on the Rock
My blogs
Occupation | Steve retired from computer work, Marcia from physical therapy |
---|---|
Location | Corregidor, Cabcaben, Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines |
Introduction | We retired in our mid-50's and moved to Corregidor, a WWII battlesite in the Philippines. Steve's father Walter fought and was captured there by the Japanese, but survived the war. Steve wrote a book about his father, "HONOR, COURAGE, FAITH: A Corregidor Story," which is available in paperback in the Philippines, and on Amazon Kindle worldwide. Steve and Marcia loved to entertain guests on Corregidor and take them to out-of-the-way places on the island. They also host tours for Valor Tours, LTD of San Francisco. |
Interests | Both: Hiking around Corregidor, reading, writing, WWII history especially in the Philippines Steve likes to watch videos at night while Marcia likes to read Marcia likes to sew but doesn't do much of it in the Philippines due to heat and lack of a good machine. She has recently gotten more involved with bird watching and photography. Steve misses watching sports, especially Minnesota Twins and Vikings, and Michigan State football, hockey, and basketball. He also is a big Indy race fan, now following the career of Michele Bumgarner, Filipina/American aspiring Indy race car driver. |
Favorite Movies | The original In-Laws with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin, UHF, Spaceballs, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (but the Hobbit sucks) Star Wars, Back to the Future, The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins |
Favorite Music | As Gus Polinski (John Candy) said in Home Alone, "Polka, polka, polka!" Also like classical, marches, older country/western (when they had tunes) |
Favorite Books | WWII books, especially about the Philippines. We both like mysteries by best-selling authors. Marcia really likes Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. |
