Introduction Kausalya Saptharishi, born in Chennai and brought up in Delhi, did her Bachelors in Political Science (Hons.) and MBA in India before proceeding to the U.S. to pursue her M.A. in Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder. As a freelance journalist, her bylines have appeared in varied American and Indian publications including The Washington Times, Hinduism Today and India Abroad. Having lived in America for close to a decade, she has gained a keen insight into the lifestyle and attitudes of the immigrant Indian community --in particular, the Indian IT brigade that has successfully captured all bastions of the IT fiefdom, California’s Silicon Valley being their crowning glory. This is Kausalya’s debut novel, and attempts to carry the authentic stamp of the Tamil Brahmin personality in the context of arranged marriages and the proliferation of NRI grooms in this community.
