Introduction I have been married to my husband for 13 years and we have four children, three of whom are adopted, all of whom have special needs. Our oldest has severe emotional issues due to biology and early abuse. Our second child has partialFetal Alcohol Syndrome, Auditory Processing Disorder and ADHD. We were told she had developmental delays but now we are have been told that her pFAS actually makes her function like someone with a lower IQ. Our third child (bio) was born with Down syndrome and also has autism. Our youngest, a boy we got straight out of the hospital after he spent two months in the NICU due to trauma right after birth and not much was expected from him but he is doing great! He continues to have some speech delays but we expect he will be ready for kindergarten and need very little help. I went to school to be a Marriage and Family therapist, and I loved my work but our biological daughter presented with too many issues for me to be able to work and care for her. Because I care about kids fostering and then adopting and now becoming involved in helping other parents to advocate for their kids has been a natural move for me.
