About Me
Often thinking I was born 2 centuary too late, I have a keen sense of those rural dwellers walking the plouged furrow before me. I've loved the British Countryside since a babe in arms. And a real joy for me is sharing with others mutual experiences about the countryside. Brought up in rural North East England, after forays in agriculture, archives, commercial art and conservation, then graduating as a Countryside Manager, I moved to the South West. I'm also a self taught artist (genes from my father, a very successful artist). Until 2006 I just dabbled but following encouragement began selling work in the West Country. After all paintings are for enjoyment not stored away in my studio. Gardening has also been a huge influence on me, I can not remember a time when I didn't get my hands dirty, and the first grass cut of spring just lifts the soul. Thus for me Gardening, Art and Wildlife, are one and the same. I welcome any comments on the blog or via e-mail. Finally for inspiration, I'd recommend everyone ready "Broke through Britain" by Peter Mortimer. An authors walk across England without money and the generosity of people on the way.
