Introduction My name is Beckey and I recently started running. I’m what MySpace flippantly refers to as “more to love,” or what the fashion world calls “plus sized,” or what old ladies in this country call big boned, heavy set or plump. Meat on the bones, junk in the trunk, squishy, fluffy, stout. My doctor calls it “obese.” Ick! Sounds horrifying. Whatever you want to call it, the truth is I’m fat, and how often do you see fat people running, enjoying it and sticking to it?

I completed the Couch to 5K program on December 6, 2010; the 9-week program took me 9 months to complete. I survived a month of boot camp this past summer. The running and boot camp combined helped me lose 30 pounds, without much help from my diet.

After a grueling winter of just trying to stay moving, I ran my first 10K in April 2011, shortly followed by my first (and likely last) half-marathon on May 1, 2011. Now, after recovering from those two races, I'm trying to take it easy on myself. I'm still running, but now it's for fun.
