I’m Cathryn Peters and I write this blog dedicated to sharing, promoting and perpetuating the crafts of chair caning, wicker repair and basketry. Here we provide news, history, current events, highlights and information about these seatweaving crafts and closely related ones.

I started my blog in July of 2004 to help promote the craft of chair seat weaving and wicker repair to the general public, perpetuating the crafts helping to ensure they don't become one of the "lost arts."

Weavin' Wicker Woman Blog serves the chair caning community too, by providing a central area where weavers can find information about current topics within the field, new resource websites, and press releases about other chair caners.

For over 30 years I've been in the business; restoring cane and wicker furniture, teaching classes and workshops nationwide, creating original design antler baskets, authoring patterns, writing about my experiences, writing grants, and serving as a consultant to the trades.
