| Introduction | Through my work as the freelance outdoor writer for The Courier-Journal, the Louisville, Ky., and Kentucky statewide daily newspaper, I spend most of my working time writing about fishing and hunting and hiking and camping and other things outdoors. I am also a contributing editor for Field & Stream magazine and have published in numerous other publications. I once worked a regular sports beat and while I still occasionally cover a football or basketball game I've basically swapped the press box for SportsCenter. I am occasionally asked, "What is your favorite thing to do?" They usually mean hunt or fish. The simple answer would be fishing. Although duck hunting would run a very close second. Then there's turkey hunting and quail and squirrels; deer, of course . . . well, you get the idea. In the Outdoor Notebook you'll hopefully find some stuff worth reading; news and views, glimpses of people I've met and placed visited. If the fishing and food are good, I'll let you know. If they're not, you probably need to know that, too. Thanks for stopping by |
