Introduction A native of Huntington Beach, Ca. Lieutenant Robert Lyon began his Navy career after graduation from the University of New Mexico in 1994. After a brief tour at NAS Norfolk he was selected for OCS in 1997. In 1998 he reported to USS BENFOLD (DDG 65) as Electrical Officer, deploying to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch and Maritime Interdiction Operations in 1999. Lt Lyon completed the conversion to Public Affairs Officer in 2001. LT Lyon has served as Public Affairs Officer for the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, the Chief of Naval Air Training and Navy Region South. He most recent was Deputy Public Affairs Officer for Third Fleet where he assisted in the training of deploying Carrier Battle Groups and was the lead planner for Public Affairs for the 2006 Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC), the worlds largest naval exercise. LT Lyon is currently serving as Public Affairs Liaison Officer to Multi-National Forces Iraq.
