| Introduction | Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, I went to the local public school. In addition to being a good student I was also a very good athlete and participated in many sports activities. In 7th grade my parents took me, my brother and two sisters out of school a month early to live in France for the summer. An edifying experience that added to my sense of being different, it was perhaps then that I began my fascination with things foreign. Within two years my family moved to London, England, where I completed my final three years of high school. My time in London marked my future, as I would yearn to be back in Europe. During my undergraduate studies at Brown I spent one year at the University of Bologna, Italy. Unbeknownst to me, that year was the beginning of a new chapter. I moved to Milan after graduation and complete two years in design school. A move to Rome followed, which is where I met my husband, closest friends and began my career in education. |
