| Introduction | My name is Ying-An Wang and I’m a rising junior at El Cerrito High School. A first-generation American citizen, I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and moved to the Bay Area in California when I was 5. At my school I participate in a variety of activities. I’m in the school Wind and Jazz Ensembles and I play soccer and badminton. I am also a part of the Interact club, and will be president of the Asian Student Union next year. When I have free time (if any) I enjoy playing the piano as well as going out with friends. While not quite sure what I want to pursue after college, but I know that I’m very interested in studying biotechnology. This summer I have the honor of representing the Ivy League Connection at Brown University, where I am taking the Techniques in DNA-Based Biotechnology course. This will be a great opportunity for me to broaden my horizons/ life experiences, explore colleges and get a feel for campus life, and most of all, bring something back to my community. |
