Introduction	Since childhood I have always had a fondness for getting my hands and feet muddy outside. I was lucky to be born into a family of gardeners - it's just simply in our blood. I will always be a city-girl at heart, but I equally want to maintain my connection to the earth. Eggs don't grow in cardboard cartons and produce doesn't sprout from the grocery store shelves. I'm making an attempt at straddling both desires by building a small food forest right here in my urban backyard, complete with some hip urban chickens. Join me for the trials and triumphs. There is certainly joy in the journey as much as the destination.
