Introduction Michael D. Vogt, CGCS, CGIA, Mike has 31 years of golf course construction and maintenance experience and he has been a Golf Course Superintendent for 26 years as well as General Manager at a private club in Illinois for four years. Mike graduated from Penn State University in 1978; worked on 6 complete golf course construction projects, was course superintendent at several courses throughout the U.S. managing cool and warm season turf grasses. Mike has held the position of President in 1988 and was bestowed the Distinguished Service Award in 1990 from the Illinois Turfgrass Foundation. An avid writer, Mike has been published numerous times and has received the Excellence in Communications award from GCSAA on two occasions and in 2011 the TOCA award. Mike presents a reoccurring seminar at the annual GCSAA Golf Industry Show and has been a guest lecturer at Wake Forest University Graduate School of Business. Mike is a class AA Life Member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and is a 24 year Certified Golf Course Superintendent, he also holds the designation as Certified Golf Irrigation Auditor from the Irrigation Association.
