About Me

ARTIST STATEMENT: It is my goal to keep each of my pieces open to interpretation, allowing the work to take on as many different meanings as there are viewers. It is more important to me that my audience feel compelled to become emotionally involved in each piece in his or her own way than for the “correct” interpretation (my own intention for the piece) to be discovered. The roles of the artist and the viewer are equally significant, and each piece is as much about the experience of viewing as it is about the painting/creating process. I paint to preserve memories for myself and to bring a visual and emotional experience to others. The desire is that my work, through color, mark and form, would evoke an emotional response from the viewer, inspiring a closer look at the piece as well as the self.
