About Me
I am Director of Publications at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Although most of the ASCSA staff are located in Greece, I and my publishing colleagues are based in Princeton, NJ. My degree from Cambridge University is in Archaeology and Anthropology and I continue to do fieldwork, currently as a co-director of the Shala Valley Project in Northern Albania. I have recently edited, with Michael L. Galaty of Millsaps College, Archaeology under Dictatorship, published by Springer in 2004. As Co-Chair of the Education Committee of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, I chair and speak at a number of seminars on scholarly communication issues. With my ex-colleague Chuck Jones, until February 2008 Head of the Blegen Library at the American School of Classical Studies and now Head Librarian at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University, I was co-Principal Investigator on a project funded by the Mellon Foundation to develop a new information architecture for the ASCSA. This project was completed in 2008.
