I am a freelance reporter living in the Berkeley hills. My book, Towers of Gold: How One Jewish Immigrant Named Isaias Hellman Created California, was published in November 2008 by St. Martin's Press in November 2008. It's a biography of one of California's most influential financiers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He's also my great great grandfather.
