| Introduction | My mother taught me that mashed potatoes were always made in a large pot. There were always leftovers and they were always used in a multitude of recipes. My mother also taught me that a kitchen was always filled with resourcefulness and creativity and joy. To this day I don't know if that was her intention, but it certainly struck me that way. The kitchen is a safe place, and nothing in the world can touch you when you are there. |
