I started HomeStars after living through several home renovations. I was surprised at how little information was available on trades and retail stores. Basically there were two ways to find a company: friends or the phone book. But how did I know if the company that quotes $9K was going to do as good a job as the company that quotes $16K - and why the big difference in price? I imagined a place where everyone could share their renovation experiences --both good and bad -- in every field of home improvement. From the handyman hired to fix a leaky faucet to the stone mason hired to build a patio, a homeowner could consult a website to read lots of people's home renovation experiences. So HomeStars was born.
