About me

Introduction Jackie Lombardo is a mother, writer, and activist motivated by ever increasing childhood illness, and research consistently revealing harm from toxicants building and storing in children’s bodies. Jackie founded Friends and Advocates for Children, Teachers and Schools (FACTS) in 2005 to educate communities about impacts of toxicants on children’s health. Featured on local radio, newspapers and TV, FACTS efforts resulted in Albemarle County, Virginia stopping routine applications of pesticides in public buildings, parks and school fields and switching to green certified cleaners. A bill protecting all Virginia school children from unnecessary exposure to pesticides was passed into law by the General Assembly in 2009. As a member of the Sierra Club National Toxics Committee, she has been involved in national projects stressing education, precaution and strong legislation for mercury, bisphenol A, pesticides, and lead in children’s products.
Interests Improving children's health through public policy and education that promotes less toxic, safer products intended for children and a cleaner environment for them.
